TOD'S DRIFTWAY

This oceanfront home in Old Greenwich, CT, was built in 1904 in a Gothic style. Although the house was completely gutted of all architectural details during a recent expansion, my intention was to rebuild every detail in a manner that was more robust than the original. Drawing on decorative arts history, interior rooms have themes, and my goal was to create an overall sense of restoration, rather than renovation, for this landmark home. To build a sequence of rooms with individual narrative threads, many furnishings were purchased at auction or from vendors around the globe, building a storybook atmosphere inside that is reminiscent of the home’s dramatic exterior architecture.
